The Arkle Challenge Trophy is the supreme test of speedy novice chasers and the winner is often made favourite for the following year's Champion Chase, the Wednesday Cheltenham feature. Last year's Arkle winner Shishkin is out to bolster the trend this year.
The Arkle is named after the highest-rated steeplechaser of all time. He won three consecutive Cheltenham Gold Cups in the 1960s
