Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Gbb Race)

The third Championship race of the week and formerly known as the World Hurdle. This was dominated by legendary stayer Big Bucks from 2009-12 but it's become an open division over the last decade.

The previous Festival form of THYME HILL helps to make him the most appealing option. He was third in the 2019 Champion Bumper and an unlucky fourth in the 2020 Albert Bartlett, and now back at Cheltenham he can build on his promising second to Champ in the Long Walk at Ascot. All of the market principals have had their colours lowered at some point this season and, with yesterday's rain in his favour and a strong pace looking assured, perhaps 2020 winner Lisnagar Oscar will be the main threat at another big price. Klassical Dream can play a leading role if bouncing back from a disappointing run in the Galmoy Hurdle, while Champ, Paisley Park and last year's winner Flooring Porter can also have good cases made for them on this season's best efforts.[Ben Hutton]
